Sorry about the weather over there. It seems like you could create some really cool geocaches....

A nice easy one for people and to get the night cachers could be....reflective pine cones hanging in trees

Or if you want to be devious you could do a white ping-pong ball hidden in the white snow....cruel but worthy of a 4 or 5 difficulty!

Geocaching is such a pleasurable hobby. My kin has took part in several local treasure searches recently. It's a super way to spend some time together and savor the great open air. Our beginning GPS system was a Garmin eTrex. Since then we have toyed with various different models. But that eTrex will constantly have a particular spot in my memories.

I just did some winter caching for the first time this week and I certainly prefer bushwacking in a foot of snow over the middle of summer. Haha! Biggest problem we had with caches I think was having them frozen to the inside of a log where they were inaccessible :D

Good post here, I really got a lot out of it. I did a lot of research before I bought a Magellan system for my geocaching. It is such a fun hobby. What receiver do you use? Click here if you'd like to check out my site. Thanks again for a very educational site!

My boys and I just finished a weekend Boy Scout camp where the topics for the weekend included GeoCaching and... Orienteering!! It's so nice to see that they still teach the old compass and map methods!

My caching slows down in the winter, but I still try and get out a few times!

I have always had the same fear of bears when hiking in known bear country. One can't help be feel a little vulnerable.

Strangely enough, my first close encounter with a black bear while hiking this summer, wiped away some of those uncomfortable feelings. While I still deeply respect, and take every precaution when hiking in bear country, the experience made me realize how bears generally want nothing to do with us either.
