Deceptively Warm
Armed with a list of winter friendly caches from my pocket query generated by Geocaching.com, we ventured out for some more caches. Despite the fact that it hasn’t snowed much lately, snowshoes would have made the trek easier. Nevertheless, it was fun. We followed the buffalo tracks through the snow to the possibles and scored our caches.
I haven’t decided if the tracks make it easier or if the cold makes it harder. It is bliss not to have to worry about poison ivy, stinging nettle, and other traps along the trail, to say nothing of bees, wasps, mosquitoes and other woodland tormentors. It was warmer for our venture out, but the increased humidity gave the vehicle for the cold to feel that much colder. What was that I learned long ago with my fitness quest? Performance clothing isn’t about being cool; it’s about staying comfortable in extreme conditions. Next time out, it’s time for the UnderArmor and the gore-tex!
