Dollar Store — Not
Since we started geocaching, I’ve been in a Dollar Store more than I ever have in my entire life. My mother, God rest her soul, loved the local Dollar Store just down the street from where she used to live. She’d often browse its shelves for more “treasure” to bring home. As for me, I wouldn’t consider going in the store much less buying anything. I know, champagne tastes and all that. But then came geocaching.
Tonka_boy was preparing his latest geocache. Of course, a geocache requires swag, so it was off to the Dollar Store. Tonka_boy browsed the shelves like a tiger on the hunt. I picked up a few office supplies. Never can have too many notebooks. After about 10 minutes, he sought me out with his treasures. We walked up to the counter with our six items. “That will be $9.35,” the clerk said. Six? Shouldn’t that be six something? I paid and we left. Outside the store, a sign solved the mystery. “All Items $1.25″. So much for the “Dollar Store”.
