Door County Geocaching

Great to see you again! Join the discussion.

It’s that time of year for me and my family–our annual trip to Door County, Wisconsin. Now that I have the family addicted to geocaching, it inevitable becomes part of the experience. Geocaching on vacation captivates me more than at home. There’s the added challenge of being someplace unfamiliar, though seeing as this is our 18th year in Door County, we have a nice feel for the place. Nonetheless, geocaching so far from home has an added bit of mystery to it. There’s a new element of surprise as you discover something truly new. It’s like finding the treasure that the locals know about and have consented to share.

Last year we did something so entirely new–geocaching and boating. Lakeland Boating included us in an article about the sport. This year may be a bit of a challenge as far as boating is concerned. Water temperatures are apt to be just past frigid, but only just. Nevertheless, I’ve done my pocket query for Door County on my Geocaching.com profile. I’m ready.
