Five Hours–One Cache
It was a misty day, the kind of day that might keep most people indoors. For geocachers, it meant a day to go out caching with the reduced possibility of muggles. You see it all depends upon your perspective. The cache we chose to find was a 10-part multi cache. The walk took us through some wonderful neighborhoods. There was something for everyone here–huge, sprawling mansions, cute little vacation homes from back in the day, trails, and ponds. We stumbled upon a few parks, very well hidden in the labyrinth of streets, cul-de-sacs, and dead ends.
By the sixth part though, we were tired. That made a confusing clue harder to decipher. Fortunately, with few possible answers, we were able to hone in on the correct coordinates. The last stages took us deeper into the neighborhoods before we finally turned to the place we had parked. Our feelings were a bit mixed at this point. I tallied up the sums we had accumulated from the various stages. We were ready to tackle the final stage.
Again, the cache took us to another hidden park in the city. Once we started out, it was clear that this was a huge place. Unfortunately, I had miscalculated our coordinates. We ended up outside of the park in yet another confusing neighborhood. It was getting a bit darker at this point. We backtracked, thinking we were done. I paused and recalculated. The new coordinates were 114 feet away. We were on the hunt again, but this time we grabbed the prize. We found the cache is short order, logging seven trackables. That’s what made it worthwhile. So, five hours and eight miles later, we headed home.
