Gearing Up For Camping Season
It’s that time of year for us. Camping season is about to begin. Our first major trip will be to Door County, Wisconsin next month.
It can be a challenging time to camp. The weather up there is a bit iffy. Spring storms can pop up any time. We tent camp when we’re up there. That of itself can be a challenge. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy it immensely. Other campers in our group RV it. I have to admit that it’s very nice when the rain is pouring down, maybe power is out in the campsite. Those campers with Honda generators or other luxuries, are still playing cards into the night.
The best thing about the camping season is an opportunity to geocache in another area. By June, there will be a slew of new caches. Unfortunately, I may not be able to rely on the Blackberry for caching. Sprint coverage is pretty spotty up there. At the campsite, we get no signal. We can’t even analog roam. We are truly on vacation and unavailable for anything work related.
I really enjoy camping. It’s such a great time to bond with our fellow campers, to get close to Nature. How nice it is to spend the day hiking, boating, shopping, dining, and anything else that comes to mind. It’s going to be a good trip this year, albeit a little chilly.
