Geo-Adventures

Great to see you again! Join the discussion.

We had another geo-marathon this weekend. We had so much fun discovering new towns, we decided to revisit one and pick up the caches we had missed. The weather was absolutely miserable though. We picked up a couple easy hides early. Then it was back to town for lunch and a few more town caches. By then, it was 90 degrees, 71 degree dewpoint, and 60% humidity. We decided to call it a day.

We headed home just in time as the thunderstorms started. I logged our finds and what did I see–several newly placed caches that had not been found. It’s easy to say yes after a glass of wine, so after dinner and the rain we headed out.

It was getting close to sunset. If the grabs were easy, we’d get two FTFs. The caches were in a park that we had visited before, but hadn’t really explored. We found the trail where it crossed the road and set off. We hadn’t been walking long when a police car showed up. We were parked in a no parking zone. We probably didn’t look like trouble, so he gave us a pass and we set off. The geo-husband found it–our second ever FTF.

It was starting to get dark at this point, but we trekked on. Didn’t get the second one though. Too dark, too humid, too wet. The next day we set off. We had just logged our third FTF when another cacher walked up on us. We knew his name. He was a power cacher in the area. It was fun to chat with a fellow geocacher. We finished the day, logging nine finds, two DNF, and an amazing 30,000+ steps (read: 14 miles) on my pedometer. Life is good.
