Helpful Muggles While Geocaching
We were out for our weekly geocaching run last weekend. The weather was so beautiful that it was begging us to get out. We took up the challenge.
My favorite parks are those that permit a bit of undisturbed searching while on the hunt. Sorry, urban caches or those labeled “stealth required” are not my favorites. The park we visited was a suburban area. Like many parks in Minnesota, it was huge and well cared for.
We followed the dirt path around a small lake to get to the caches. It was a bit of a walk, but being on this relatively narrow path rather than a chipped trail made it more of a wilderness type of experience. The only bad thing was the road noise. Just when you thought you were away from it all, a car honked its horn or something similar. Fortunately, the farther we traveled, the less the noise of the road.
The first cache was an easy grab. We were on our way. The next one had us stumped. It seemed so apparent where it had to be. The signals were good. That’s when the muggles found us. Normally, we stop what we’re doing when a muggle approaches. These two caught us in the act.
The muggles knew exactly what we were up to, seeing as my husband was wearing a geocaching t-shirt. The one then was telling us how he had the cache a few weeks ago. He recognized as we talked that the logo on my husband’s t-shirt was like what he saw on the cache. When he found it, he went to Geocaching.com to check it out. Oh, it seemed like a lot of fun, he said.
Well, needless to say, it was a DNF. The cache was there when he last found it, but was now gone. I suspect it fell down into the tree. In any case, we had a great walk, grabbed a few geocaches, and enjoyed a wonderful day.
