I’m Not Complaining

wetlands Im Not ComplainingMinnesota has enjoyed a relatively cool summer. Here it was August, and temperatures were hovering around 75 degrees. How can you not like that? Gorgeous!

We went geocaching over the weekend, eight miles of it. The weather was so outstanding. We returned to a park we had visited several times before, all in the winter. I can honestly say it was almost like going to a new park, because I recognized so little. Amazing what snow will do to alter a landscape.

With the weather as beautiful as it was, we thought for sure that it was going to be muggle central. Not too bad, as far as muggles go. We saw little traffic on the trails. I could only guess why others weren’t out enjoying the day.

The park is a lovely mix of wetlands, forest, and prairie. Our geocaching took us through most of the different habitats. The topography of the area made the walks sometimes challenging. We must have trekked up the highest hill ever.

puffball mushroom Im Not ComplainingRecent rains made for interesting sights along the way. Mushrooms were everywhere. I photographed some coral fungus and some giant puffballs. I swear, those puffballs look like skulls. It makes me wonder if the police get calls during this time of the year.

We walked to just about exhaustion, taking in as much of the gorgeous landscape as we could. For our reward, we scored seven geocaches. These are the days that make geocaching such a joy.
