Keeping the Geo-Dog Tick Free

labpup thumb Keeping the Geo Dog Tick Free As the month of April winds down, I thought I’d reiterate a point that I made earlier this month, specifically protecting you and the geo-dog from tick-borne disease. April is after all, National Prevent Lyme Disease in Dogs Month

Lyme disease is a devastating disease both in dogs and humans. Prevention is simple with the use of a good flea and tick preventive. These monthly treatments are effective and easy to apply. After applying the preventive, you may want to remove your pet’s collar, especially if your pet has a leather collar. The collar may absorb the product and reduce its effectiveness.

Aside from the health effects, treatment for Lyme disease is costly and time consuming. The disease can also cause long term effects which may require a lengthy course of treatment.

Your geo-dog is your geo-buddy. As you take time to protect yourself, don’t forget your four-legged friends who help scout out ground zero for geocaches. Lyme disease can be prevented.
