Being surprised on your own is just too sweet!

Now, on with the post. (Scroll down.)

Stumbling on a great blog post regarding this series, we took to the trails in search of the Halloween geocaches.  Not for the faint of heart, the aim with these hides is to startle, surprise and amaze finders.  We were not disappointed.

The only way to log your find was to submit a pic with you donning either one of the provided masks or one of your own.  Doesn’t he look adorable?

Most of the caches were relatively close by.  We took to the road for the next find.

Again, I have to give the owner of these caches a lot of credit.  Not only are the caches themselves so much fun, but the placement is excellent.  Perfect for those cachers like me who shrink from stealth required caches.  Suppose too, it is out of necessity for these caches because of their very nature.

As we progressed, the caches became trickier and must I say it, more trippy.  The cache owner again, did a great job of hiding in area that bordered on muggle land with some clever hides.

Our next find was in a wooded area next to the high school.  Evidence of  walkers abounded.  This hide had to be well off the chosen path to succeed and stay a hide.  We struggled with this one a bit.  While my Blackberry was doing fine, we still missed our target.

Needless to say, this was some outrageous geocaching.  As I noted in one log to the owner, he’s ruined finding a normal geocache for me.  This was just too fun for words.

As luck would have it, in our travels we happened upon a cache from the Halloween 2007 challenge.  I have to admit that this was my favorite of all of the caches.  Next week, more Halloween fun. Enjoy!
