Review: Movavi Video Suite, Another Tool For Geocaching

For my last post, I created a video our our geocaching adventure and uploaded it to YouTube to share.

Tonka_boy was on his mark that day, remembering to shoot the video. I hadn’t considered it. I was just anxious to score the cache.

I stumbled upon this program while browsing on Squidoo. At $59, it’s not a bad price for how powerful the program is. There is a extended download fee and sales tax, which may be a non-issue for you, just so you know. My original thought had been to use the free Windows Movie Maker that I have with XP. Unfortunately, it does not support the MP4 file format. I needed something else.

The Movavi Video Suite not only copies DVDs, but you can create slideshows and burn CDs. Best of all, it is a YouTube friendly software, creating videos for upload. You can enhance your video with music and sounds like I did for our Halloween video.

I don’t work with this kind of software. I’ve tried similar packages and didn’t find them very intuitive. I wanted a software that was clear enough to just dive in.

So here I am, no experience in video editing creating my first video. Adding the sounds and titles was easy. The preview for the titles was helpful. Everything was so intuitive that I didn’t once consult the help file. That’s huge for me. While I wanted to create the video, I didn’t want to spend all day doing it.

The program comes with a 30 day trial. As is common with this type of trial, their watermark is all over the place on your videos. It was a bit more obnoxious than most watermarks and nag screens. However, it really didn’t matter too much. I knew from the get-go that this was what I wanted. I didn’t need a 30 day trial. Gone the obnoxious watermark!

Now that I’ve gotten my feet wet, I think I’m going to like this a lot. Surely now we have the tools to create some fun geocaching videos.
