RIP Sister Reunion Travel Bug
I suppose it happens to many geocachers at one point or another. After the excitement of placing one of my first travel bugs, I am sorry to report that the Sister Reunion travel bug is missing. RIP.
Most of my travel bugs have some personal meaning. Perhaps that is my mistake. I mean, once it’s out of your hands, you have no control. Part of the fun of geocaching. This travel bug was personal though. It introduced my family to the world of geocaching. Its loss stings a bit because of my attachment.
The mission for my little travel bug was to visit the states where my sisters live. It was on its way to Florida when it stalled in Texas. Emails to the cache owner and the last geocachers gave me the bad news. It was gone.
I like to think that a geocacher will find it in his geocaching bag one day, feeling remiss for keeping it so long. I wouldn’t be angry for the delay. Rather, I’d welcome its return and cheer it on to Florida.
It was fun while it lasted. In the beginning, there was a lot of activity on it. I enjoyed following its progress on Google Earth. Oh, well, maybe it’ll turn up again some place. RIP Sister Reunion Travel Bug. Safe travels.

I have (as embarrasing as it is to admit) hung on to the first couple of TB’s I found WAY too long.
Part of it is being a noobie, part of it is the number of micros out there, and part of it is hitting GeoCaches when I least expect to (a quick stop at the store, and search all nearby caches).
I keep a GeoCaching “Go-Bag” that has all my swag, TB’s, notebooks, and I have started keeping replacement logs…
I do not always have my Geo-Go-Bag with me all the time – and so I have missed several opportunities to drop a TB.
Once I hit that 6 month mark – I REALLY felt guilty about the TB’s I still had – and made a couple of special trips to get them moving again… (Blushing)
Who knows… Maybe a Cacher has your TB, and it will show up soon enough!
Best of luck!

February 21st, 2009 at 11:49 amI can definitely sympathize with the ‘loss’ of your Sister Reunion TB. We’ve put out a few trackables and with one exception none have had any activity in months. Whenever we put a TB out it’s a little ‘traumatic’ – like we were sending our child out into the world to fend for himself! Our first TB has a mission to travel to Hawaii then back to Massachusetts. It’s done all of that except the very last step. Right now it’s apparently sitting in a cache in Connecticut.
February 28th, 2009 at 10:26 amFollowing the travels of coins an TBs is just one of the fun parts of caching so I never understand why someone would take one of these from a cache and just drop it in the bottom of their caching bag. But I guess it happens. And then with geocoins it seems that people may just keep them as a collectible.
We love trackable items and are always disappointed when they seem to go missing but it won’t keep us from sending out more!

We found our first TB yesterday- on our third day of geocaching. It’s on the way to England and I really wish I could take it there myself!
You’ve got a nice looking blog. I read some posts and watched some videos. We have a weimaraner, too. : )
Happy Geocaching!
