The Things You See While Geocaching

Say what you will about geocaching, but one thing it is not is dull. Actually, geocaching is filled with possibilities. Last weekend was no exception.

We went boating as the weather begged that we be out on the water. Swimming was the order of the day. We boated to a bay we had often whiled away the day before. We had since written it off because of the amount of boat traffic. In fact, we jokingly referred to it as “Buzz Bayou”. We decided to try it again.

The particular spot we made for was unnamed. Times we have anchored here, we soon observed that it was a popular spot for boaters with dogs. Quiet. Secluded. A sandy beach. A great spot for Rover to run it off. Many a time we watched as eager pooches ran into the water for a tennis ball or frisbee. Thus, it became “Puppy Cove”.

Last weekend we anchored in Puppy Cove. The sun shone and life was good. We were the only boat in the cove, a rarity we enjoyed because gas is $5 a gallon on the lake and many stick close to home or limit fast boating. Sure enough, a pontoon soon joined us, boating to use the cove for its named purpose. Four dogs frolicked in the water, trying to beat each other to the thrown tennis ball. How fun! That’s when we got the idea to place a geocache here and call it Puppy Cove.

As we mused, the puppies (okay, dogs) left. A lone angler entered the cove. He quickly made for the one place one can beach a boat. He de-boated and disappeared on land. While all this happened, we had swam and then enjoyed a glass of wine. The boat had since swung on its anchor line so that I was facing the open water. Tonka_boy saw what happened next.

The lone angler returned to his boat. He had taken the opportunity on land to change into his swimsuit. Tonka_boy cried out. What is it, I asked. I turned around to see the angler bending over to free his line, wearing his t-backed thong for all to see. The things you see while geocaching.
