Tough Winter Geocaching
With the weather so warm, we had to get out for some geocaching. Despite the 50 degree temperature, this was still winter geocaching.
Shady parts of the trails were still snow and ice covered. The parts that were open were muddy and very sloppy. We had to do a bit of bushwhacking to avoid the huge puddles forming from runoff. Our hope was to snag our 300th find. Alas, not this time. We did manage to get three though.
The prairie was amazing too. Just gorgeous with indian grass, big bluestem, and lots of forbs. It should be an amazing sight this summer.
I’m probably one of the last geocachers to have discovered this, but thanks to JShults for the lead about Coord.Info for logging geocaching (and tweets) in the field. So nice to not have to remember which geocache I put the travel bug in or which log was full.

Glad you had some warmer weather. So – you’ve found almost 300 caches… sounds like a lot to me.
Thanks for the geocaching tip! I’ll check it out.
