Vacationing Swiss Style
I came across a blog post the other day about geocaching. It talked about how geocaching takes you to new places. The blogger talked about visiting exotic locales in Crete and Spain. While my geocaching hasn’t taken me out of the U.S., the post got me thinking about what places I’d like to visit and geocache. Immediately, Switzerland, namely, sustainable Switzerland, came to mind.
More and more the type of vacation I like best is one when I can be active. Rather than drive, I’d rather walk and bike, immerse myself in the setting. Can you imagine biking with the mountains in the backdrop? The thought of enjoying all that good mountain air sounds exhilarating. Definitely, some place that is bike-friendly would make that part of the trip more enjoyable.
Spending time outdoors through geocaching and other activities has given me a great love and respect for the environment. So, of course, I try to follow best practices when vacationing too and look for green-friendly hotels and resorts. Since I feel this way, it only makes sense that I should choose places that have the same philosophy. It’s so refreshing and encouraging to know that some places like Switzerland respect the environment.
Last time I was in Europe, I was able to travel several times by train. It’s such a great and economical way to get around. It’d be nice if train travel in the U.S. was as pleasant. So part of my Swiss vacation would include travel by train to take in more of the splendid scenery.
What a trip it would be! I’d certainly be happy to add some Swiss geocaches to my list–and maybe put some miles on someone’s travel bug.
