Winter Geocaching — Not!

Great to see you again! Join the discussion.

Well, with the best of intentions, we planned for some winter geocaching in Wisconsin.  Both my husband and I enjoy traveling through the badger state whenever we get the opportunity.  Geocaching was on the agenda.

Willow River State Park is a gorgeous park just across the Minnesota state line.  The landscape, influenced by the St. Croix River, is rugged and challenging.  Be prepared for hills.

We had our list of caches prepared.  So, with my Blackberry in hand, we set off.  It didn’t take us long to realize just how far we were off the beaten path — or at least the path defined by Sprint.  No cell phone coverage, which in Blackberry-speak means no GPS coverage.  Without our antique Garmin Map 12 GPSr as back up, there was no geocaching.  Oh, well, lesson learned.  We did enjoy a lovely hike in the park and a great lunch in town.

This seems WAY too artistic for a geocaching video. Where’s the heavy metal music where you fall down a muddy slope and bash your shin on a rock or root?
